Sir Robin Saxby KBE - A leading pathfinder and global entrepreneur in IT technology

Honorary Degree of Doctor of Technology (Hon DTech) in recognition of his outstanding services to the information technology industry. 

Sir Robin Saxby
Former pupil of Chesterfield Grammar School and graduate of Liverpool University, Robin Saxby gained wide expertise in the electronics industry in various roles with different companies and eventually headed up the UK operation, with added international responsibilities, at European Silicon Structures.

In 1991 he co-founded ARM Holdings, now the world’s leading company in semiconductor intellectual property. He has served both as the company’s chairman and chief executive, and continues to have an influential role.

His contribution to the technology sector and to society as a whole has been immense, through the development and use of microchips in computers, mobile phones, iPads and other equipment.  He was knighted for services to technology in 2002.
