Sara is Nottingham Post Business Woman of the Year
10 December 2013
Sara Harraway (BA Hons Interior Design 1992), Director at CPMG Architects, was awarded Business Woman of the Year at last month’s Nottingham Post Women in Business awards.
Sara is one of the most senior women in East Midlands regional architecture and one of the four-strong team that runs Nottingham-based practice CPMG. Sara started with the practice which has been established for over 30 years, back in 1994. In a construction and development industry once male-dominated, Sara has become a leading light.
Sara has been involved in the development and design of many local buildings including the interior design for Bilborough College, refurbishment of the University of Nottingham’s Portland Building and work on The Park Octagon, which consists of 22 luxury apartments and is situated in the prestigious Park Estate.
Sara is an example of someone who focussed very hard on what she wanted to achieve, and who doesn’t like to fail at anything. She said: “The more you progress, the more avenues will open up. I never dreamt I would end up in interior design, but I found a way.”
Successful businesswomen from across Nottinghamshire were honoured at the awards ceremony, to celebrate women in business and female role models who inspire and achieve.
Sponsored by Nottingham Trent University, the evening saw a number of alumni named as runners-up including Helen Taylor of Hosta Consulting (FdSc Horticulture 2011 & BSc Hons Environment Design and Management 2012), Vanessa Gretton-Roche of Wired Café (BA Hons Social Sciences 2003), Rachael Hobbs of Bridge and Stitch (BA Hons Fashion Design 2009), and Kirsty Swift (BA Hons International Fashion Business 2008 & MA Fashion Business 2009) of independent deli café, Toast.
