NTU Drama Society to perform The Wedding Singer
16 April 2014
Nottingham Trent University’s award winning Drama Society, now in their sixth year, are all set to deliver their musical for 2014!
On 25 and 26 April, the group of NTU students will hit the stage at the Nottingham Playhouse to perform the Broadway musical adaptation of Adam Sandler’s 1998 hit film, The Wedding Singer.
Set in 1986, the show combines classic ‘80s songs and styles to tell the story of Robbie Hart (Richard Miah), a popular wedding singer with a passion for romance and love. After Robbie is brutally jilted at the altar, he loses his faith in love and is unable to continue performing at weddings, but with the help of bandmates George (Joe Hayes) and Sammy (Ruairi Blake), and waitressing cousins Julia (Abi Smith) and Holly (Lauren Brown), Robbie finds himself on a musical road to recovery…
The society’s rendition of Little Shop of Horrors saw them win “Event of the Year” at the 2011 NTSU Awards, while last year they performed Fame at Nottingham Arts Theatre. With the move to a bigger stage at the 750 seat Playhouse we can only expect a bigger and better performance than ever before!

Shows will take place at the Nottingham Playhouse on Friday 25 April at 7.30 pm and on Saturday 26 April at 2.30 pm and 7.30 pm. Tickets are £12 (£8 concessions) and available from Nottingham Playhouse’s website or box office – Tel: 0115 941 9419.
