Nottingham dance calendar set to raise money for CMT UK
6 November 2013
NTU alumni working for the creative design company Scholarship Press have worked with a group of local dancers to create an Urban Ballet calendar to raise money for CMT UK.
CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease) is a condition that affects the nerves in the legs and arms, known as the peripheral nerves.
Photographers Tim Elwood (HND Printing 1988) and Lauren Smedley (BA Hons Photography 2013) have worked on this calendar project over the past three months.
Lauren said: “CMT is a progressive disease that can cause long term pain and chronic tiredness, so this calendar represents the freedom and beauty in movement which can often be taken for granted.”
The A4 landscape calendar features four dancers from the East Midlands photographed in in central Nottingham. Lauren said: “The fluidity and beauty of the dancers creates an interesting juxtaposition against the restricted harsh lines of the city, much like how the fluidity of movement for sufferers of CMT may also be cut down and restricted due to the effects of the disease.”
Based in Nottingham, Scholarship Press was formed in 2000 and has developed from a publishing company into a creative multi-disciplined design agency working with local enterprises to deliver effective creative solutions.
