Making New Moves and Building New Futures
15 August 2016

Widen your horizons by joining NTU’s new course for mature learners.
NTU’s School of Social Sciences is a national leader in opening up the rich and varied resources of higher education to people over 50. Using insights from psychology, sociology and linguistics, this new course will help you look at later life in new ways. It will help you appreciate the personal and social resources you already possess, and build these in a supportive learning community, to enrich your own and others’ lives.
The course has two modules, each of ten three-hour classes, running on Wednesday afternoons from 28 September to 29 March (with a long break at Christmas).
“Introducing Social Sciences” in Term 1, will consider topics such as personal change and human relationships in the second half of life, and help you develop your study skills.
“Growing Older in Britain Today”, in Term 2 will look at how personal resources, health and social policy, and technology are shaping the experience of later life – and how you can respond to this.
The cost is £310 per module. No qualifications are needed for entry. The course does not lead to an award, but does provide an introduction to our new postgraduate course “Enriching Later Life with Social Science”.
