Journalism course takes industry gold standard top spot

Sir Michael Parkinson presents the award to course leader, Chris CrawfordThe BA (Hons) Print Journalism course at NTU has been named as the country’s top performing undergraduate course by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).

Run by the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism (CBJ) at NTU, the course took the Top Undergraduate NCTJ Centre accolade for having the highest percentage of students who graduated with C grade passes or better in all NCTJ exams, plus 100 wpm shorthand.

The award was presented by Sir Michael Parkinson, Chancellor of NTU, at the NCTJ Awards for Excellence gala dinner held at the annual Journalism Skills Conference, where he also gave the after-dinner speech. This year’s conference was hosted by NTU at venues across the city.

This is the second time the Print Journalism course has picked up the award, also receiving it in 2010. Two CBJ students were also shortlisted for the Student Feature Writer of the Year awards.
