Welcome to the family

17 November 2012

Stephen Dixon Tour of John van Geest Cancer Research CentreA very warm welcome to all of you who are reading this as you prepare for graduation this coming weekend and thought you'd see what this alumni stuff was all about...

We get SO used to being members of NTU that in three short years it becomes part of our DNA. It helps create who we are and is so often a vital part of setting our course for working life on track. How odd it would be then, if after helping you be you for three years we just said "well done and goodbye"?!

At NTU we are proud of all you have achieved with us, which we will celebrate this weekend, but we are also proud of everything you achieve as you work through your career. The Alumni association is here to keep all NTU alumni together, to be a central point of contact and to help you along the way.

Make sure you get signed up and your details updated online as that helps us see how everyone is doing AND lets us act as a central-hub in the years to come when you try to make contact with some long lost friends.

Maybe one day, in that long distant future, you'll be back at NTU being celebrated as our Alumnus of the Year. It's a great honour that we give annually to someone who makes an outstanding contribution to the world, either through their career or, as this year, through an act of sheer humanity.

On the afternoon of Saturday 24th I will be absolutely delighted to watch Matt Wallace being honoured for his selfless fundraising campaign 'Where's Wallace?' which raised tens of thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.

You see, we stay proud of you, whatever you do - just keep us in the loop!

Have a wonderful graduation, enjoy every moment and if you see me, come and say "hello".

All best wishes,

Stephen
