Why do you volunteer as an Alumni Fellow?
I had an excellent educational journey at NTU, where I gained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering together with University and IMechE Awards. This has helped me tremendously in my career and I wanted to be able to give something back to the University that has helped me on that journey.

What volunteering activities have you been involved with as an Alumni Fellow (e.g. mentoring, guest lectures)?
I have mentored students, given guest lectures, supported students with interview practice and facilitated Rolls-Royce site visits.

What do you enjoy and find most rewarding most about being an Alumni Fellow?
Seeing the students I have mentored, provided interview practice and attended my guest lectures succeed at NTU and enter the world of work.

Do you have any advice for someone thinking about volunteering as an Alumni Fellow?
Just do it, it is so rewarding for the students, for yourself and ultimately the University.

What do you do when you’re not volunteering?
I work at Rolls-Royce (RR) based in Derby as Head of Corporate Heritage and Chief Executive of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust (RRHT), which has circa 3000 members worldwide. I act as a global focal point for the Company's heritage activity and the key interface internally and externally. I promote STEM engagement with young people and have been a STEM Ambassador for around 20 years across the UK. I maintain relationships with external historical and other organisations who have a common interest in the history and heritage of the aviation industry and represent the company at the celebrations marking historical events. I manage the RR Corporate Heritage team and interface with all the RRHT Branches in Derby, Bristol, Ansty, Scottish and Indianapolis to enable the Trust to meet its objectives. I support the Heritage projects, premises, archives, books and publications, exhibitions and artefacts and I am the accountable person for the Health and Safety of employees and volunteers of the Corporate Heritage team and the Corporate Heritage Trust, in both office and workshop environments.
