Why do you volunteer as an Alumni Fellow?

I feel that it's important to support students on their journey to graduating and becoming professionally qualified. I think it's quite simple - it's always great to help others where you can.

What volunteering activities have you been involved with as an Alumni Fellow (e.g. mentoring, guest lectures)?
I have been a mentor and given guest lectures.

What do you enjoy and find most rewarding most about being an Alumni Fellow?
It's always nice to speak to students who are passionate about what they do and then the reward comes when you see them succeeding and reaching their goals.

Do you have any advice for someone thinking about volunteering as an Alumni Fellow?
I would strongly encourage it. It's always good to share the experience of your journey. You can start with smaller or simple volunteering tasks and then get more involved more if you enjoy it.

What do you do when you’re not volunteering?
I am a Chartered Surveyor and run my own consultancy. Outside of that, I am involved with a few charities and also a school governor.

Have you undertaken any other volunteering as a result of Covid-19?
I am involved with a charity to help them source and deliver food to the local foodbank. I also co-ordinate the delivery of 40-50 meals locally every day for vulnerable people in isolation for another charity.
