What was your most memorable moment during your time at NTU, that helped you with your career development?
Unquestionably, that period was one of the most exciting periods of my life as I got the opportunity to plan my next chapter. However, I had to work a full-time job to complete my Masters degree. This taught me to prioritize my time, build great habits and stay focused on my goals. I’m proud of this accomplishment and I feel that what I learned give me a big advantage in my career so far.

My top tip for the Class of 2020 in one sentence:
Be positive, principled, proactive, and productive. I hope you reach all your goals. The expression "sky is the limit" is outdated.

The recession in 2008 jeopardized potential jobs in the industry in the years that followed, and it also affected financial, mental and physical health.

Do you have any advice for current students or new graduates to improve their employability prospects?
During tumultuous times, like nowadays, it can be hard for many of you to make plans for the future. So many aspects of everyday life have been suddenly cast into doubt. Fortunately, there are some timeless pieces of advice:

  • Every job, every stage of your career, is a chance to keep learning marketable skills.
  • Don't take a job just for the money, take a job for what you can learn from it.
  • Be ready to try new things, take calculated risks with your career and be willing to test the waters.
