Sat Bains

In a dazzling career, the Derby-born chef Sat Bains, has worked with several great names in the business since completing his college catering course.

On a scholarship from the Roux Brothers, he visited France to cook with the Pourcel twins, celebrated innovators in French gastronomy. Their exceptional dining and hotel business was an inspiration for his own venture, the Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms, in Nottingham.

He gained his first Michelin Star in 2003 and a second in 2011, and has won a range of other food-industry awards. His modern way with classic ingredients and styles has earned him an international reputation.

He also extends his support to local food producers and to the training of young chefs, and he inaugurated NTU’s in-house food technology laboratory.
