Ms Lynn Saunders

Honorary Degree of Doctor of Social Science in recognition of her significant contribution to the treatment and rehabilitation of sexual offenders, both nationally and internationally, and to the ultimate aim of a reduction in victims.

Lynn Saunders

Originally trained as a social worker, and working as a probation officer before joining theprison service in 1992, Lynn Saunders does not shy away from working with excluded groups.

As Governor of HMP Whatton, one of Europe’s largest prisons for sex offenders, Lynn now presides over a truly innovative and pioneering prison that is successfully rehabilitating sexual offenders and creating best practice worldwide.

She also founded the Safer Living Foundation, a charity to help prevent sexual re-offending and is a Trustee for Prisoners Abroad, the only UK charity caring for the welfare of British prisoners held in foreign prisons.

She also extends her support to pioneering research, which includes a unique collaboration with NTU in forensic research of sex offending and sexual crime; with the ultimate aim of reducing the number of victims.
