Graphic Design class of 1978 reunite

5 August 2019

Seven classmates from the Graphic Design course, class of 1978, met up in July to take a tour of NTU’s City Campus and look at the studios where they had been taught.

The group was shown around the Art and Design facilities by Tracey Newton, of the School of Art and Design.

Alumnus Brian Howes said: “It was wonderful to stand in our old studio once again after 41 years. We have all had very interesting and diverse careers since leaving Trent - both as designers and in other areas. It's amazing how we have developed such a rich diversity of talent within the group. I know that our experience at Trent set us all up well for our careers.”

Fellow classmate, Martin Shiel, added: “Thank you to Tracey and the alumni team for making our reunion such a very special day. It's difficult to put into words just how special, moving and joyous the day was for everyone as some of us hadn't seen each other since we left. We're all looking forward to doing it again next year and hoping we can get our remaining classmates there too.”

There are plans for another reunion in Summer 2020 to tie in with the Art and Design degree shows. The group are hoping to find their remaining Trent Polytechnic classmates to join them.
