We are always keen to meet up with our alumni. The Alumni Association plans a number of special events throughout the year - from open days on campus to receptions at the House of Commons.

Of course, you don’t have to wait for us. Why not arrange your own class reunion? We can help you trace your 'old' friends and give advice on arranging your event. You can read about other recent events and reunions, and if you are planning your own, don't forget to request our special reunion pack which will give you tips on arranging your event. Nottingham Business School 30th Anniversary Dinner - 30 April 2010

30th Anniversary Dinner

Nottingham Business School is pleased to invite alumni and their guests to a special black tie dinner to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

The Nottingham Business School 30th Anniversary Dinner will be hosted by our Vice-Chancellor Professor Neil Gorman in the magnificently renovated Arkwright building on Friday 30 April 2010.  The evening includes a champagne reception, followed by a three course meal and live entertainment until 1.00 am.

Tickets can be booked online.  In conjunction with Experience Nottinghamshire we have arranged some special deals at local hotels.  However, if you book before Friday 26 March 2010 you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win a two night stay over the weekend of the Anniversary Dinner at Nottingham’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, with dinner for two in the Lace Maker Restaurant on Saturday 1 May 2010.

 

Climax Reunited at your Students’ Union - 27 March 2010

Climax Reunited

Relive the nights of ‘Trollied’ and ‘Climax’ at your Students’ Union in Nottingham on Saturday 27 March 2010 - including entertainment and music from original Climax DJs.

Doors open at 9.30 pm to 2.30 am. This is the first alumni event ever to be held celebrating your old student night out.  It is a great opportunity for you to return to campus and organise a get-together with your ‘old’ university friends.  Please email us if you need help contacting your former classmates to join you for a night you’ll “Never Forget”.

Tickets are £5.00 per person* and can be booked online

BOSA Annual Lunch – 21 March 2010

Brackenhurst

BOSA is holding their Annual Lunch on Sunday 21 March 2010 in the Cedric Ford Pavilion at Newark Showground, Winthorpe, Newark, Notts (A1/A46).

The lunch will commence at 12.30 pm for 1.00 pm. Tickets are £22 and includes a welcome drink, three course buffet menu, wine and coffee, plus tea before you leave.

The Speaker for the 9th Reunion Lunch will be Dr Rami Seth who has promised to give a humorous talk after the meal.

Anybody who has attended Brackenhurst - students, staff or administration - is very welcome.  If you are celebrating 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 years since attending Brackenhurst why not book a table of former students and make a special effort to find those long-lost friends?

Exclusive peek at Newton and Arkwright - 24 June 2010

Newton and Arkwright buildings

After a closure of almost three years the Newton and Arkwright buildings is gradually reopening over the 2009/2010 academic year.  A great deal of work has gone into refurbishing these buildings which are the new heart of our City site.  To celebrate there will be an exclusive event for alumni and their guests, hosted by Sir Michael Parkinson, on Thursday 24 June 2010.  This will give alumni their first official glimpse at this magnificent redevelopment.  Booking information will be announced soon, but if you would like to register your interest in advance please contact us.

 

Postgraduate Scholarships - Open Days

The School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment and the School of Art and Design are awarding a number of scholarships to NTU alumni who wish to return to the University to study for a postgraduate qualification.  To be eligible for one of these scholarships you must have graduated from NTU since 2005 with a minimum of a 2.1 Honours degree; be a UK or EU applicant; and be applying to commence your postgraduate studies in September 2010.

Golden celebration for the School of Education - 23 October 2010

Next year sees the School of Education’s 50th year of teacher training on Clifton campus and the School is planning a special event on Saturday 23 October 2010 to mark the occasion. 

More details will become available soon, but it is hoped that this event will reunite old friends and include tours of the campus and a special buffet dinner.  To ensure you get your invitation, you and your friends can register your interest for this event via

Invest in Nottingham Day

Invest in Nottingham

Invest in Nottingham is the official inward investment agency for Nottingham. Its aim is to promote Nottingham globally as a preferred business location and a key place to invest.

Invest in Nottingham Day 2010 on Thursday 27 May will showcase what Nottingham has to offer as a business location. It will give guests the opportunity to visit new Nottingham developments and also choose from a selection of Open Days and Seminars, hosted by local businesses. There will be opportunity to meet and network with key Nottingham business people, visit exhibitions and take city tours.

We will also be holding an Invest in Nottingham Day launch in London which will take place on 14 or 15 April 2010 (tbc). This event will give London based guests a chance to meet the Invest in Nottingham Team and key city decision makers.

Calling all Nottingham Business School graduates

As part of Nottingham Business School's 30 year anniversary we are also holding some events for our students – and we would like to invite you back to share your experiences and achievements with them.

13, 16, 27 February 2010:  NBS Post-Application Open Days.  These Open Days provide an opportunity for students who have applied to the School to come along and see the university’s facilities and to get more details about courses and placement opportunities. Perhaps you could give a talk about your placement and how it benefited you and your career.

Varsity Series 2010

Varsity Ice Hockey - 15 Feb Each year Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham hold a series of sporting events to celebrate sporting excellence, the strong partnership between the city’s two universities, and to raise funds for charity.  The 2010 Annual Charity Varsity Series will raise money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) which raises awareness of conditions that can lead to Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) and Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS, SADS).

Transforming Health Care Delivery Systems - Thursday 11 February 2010, 1815-2045

This round table event will focus on implementing change and performance improvement within health and social care. Guest speakers will highlight how utilising tools such as theory of constraints and lean thinking can help to transform healthcare delivery systems.

Say goodbye to York House

York House

After more than 30 years, NTU will be vacating its space in York House in the summer of 2010.  A few former students, who have fond memories of York House, have asked us to mark the occasion with a special, informal reunion event.  If you were taught in York House and would be interested in visiting the building one last time to help us bid it farewell then please let us know.  If we get enough people come forward we will arrange an event just for you!  Contact us.


 

BSc Industrial Studies 1990 - 20 year reunion

Lisa Hawkins (BSc Industrial Studies 1990) and a small group of others are planning a 20 year reunion next year.

The group are hoping to meet in Nottingham on Saturday 3rd July 2010 (venue to be advised). All BSc Industrial Studies 1990 graduates are very welcome.
